Changes Coming to The Way Home Rescue
We would like to announce that some changes are on the horizon for The Way Home! We have been able to rescue many cats since 2011 because of the financial and emotional support of our volunteers, adopters and followers. For this we are extremely grateful.
As some of you may already know, our founder and director, Vickie Ambler, is moving to Pennsylvania so that she will be close to her family. In anticipation of this move, she has been grooming one of our volunteers, Deana Hermey, to take over the rescue. Deana joined The Way Home in 2017 and has already taken over our all social media marketing, facilitated adoptions, and handled all of our listing of adoptable cats on the adoption websites. Deana’s first love is TNR of feral cats in her community. So, The Way Home will be more involved in TNR projects, but will continue to save cats from local shelters and our community as well. A lot of our rescue kittens have come from TNR projects in the past.
Being a retired teacher, Vickie donated over 40 hours per week to The Way Home. That is a huge role for anyone to fill. So, it must be filled with multiple people. Our current volunteers will be stepping up to help but we are looking for additional help. If you know anyone with a passion for animals (primarily cats, since we are exclusively a cat rescue) that would like to get involved in our group, please reach out to us thewayhomerescue@gmail.com
We are looking for
Admin and Marketing: Help, list and promote cats via rescue websites and social media, coordinate transport of pets to vet and foster homes, maintain and update medical records, review adoption applications.
Transporters: Help transport pets to and from vet for surgery and back to fosters house.
(typical drop off 8am-9am / pick up between 3pm-5pm depending on vet)
Fosters: Foster homes for cats or kittens. Application and home check required.
TNR: Trap, Neuter, Return. Fixing stray cats is extremely important to stop pet overpopulation.
Adoption Events: Help plan, organize and attend adoption events on Saturdays.
THANK YOU for your support and we look forward to saving many more lives……
If you are looking to adopt, please make your way to The Way Home Rescue’s pet page to see who is looking for their forever home!
